KCN Welcomes Exchange Students From The University of New Brunswick

The exchange students from the University of New Brunswick (UNB) arrived in Malawi on May 30, 2016. UNB is a Canadian University and research institution that has been in operation since 1785. UNB offers a variety programs at Bachelors, Masters, and PhD levels, including Nursing, Science, Arts, Engineering and Kinesiology. KCN has had collaborative agreements with the University of New Brunswick since 2011 and this is the first time that the two have engaged in a student exchange program. The agreement between the two universities continues with the new Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Scholarship Program (QES) formed by the Rideau Hall Foundation and Canada’s foundation network. Under the QES Program, University of New Brunswick students are provided with funding to do an internship related to their field of study in a commonwealth county. Kamuzu College of Nursing is one such organization that will receive interns in Malawi and support the internships of UNB Nursing students through this program. This year, 8 University of New Brunswick nursing students will take part in an internship program, with placements at KCN. At these placements, the UNB students will have the opportunity to learn with KCN students and take part in clinical placements, both in communities and at medical centres
