Quality Assurance

The Quality Assurance Department (QAD) was set up in 2015 to support both the University of Malawi and KCN’S quests towards achieving their missions and strategic objectives. It is responsible for maintaining a high level of quality in teaching, learning, research, consultancy, community engagement as well as various other services provided for the students, staff and KCN community.  The department spreads, enhances and monitors quality culture concepts, standards, accreditation processes and quality assurance strategies and procedures that govern all academic and support functions at the College.

Comprising of the Director and Quality Assurance Committee, the department also develops appropriate qualitative and quantitative standards for teaching and service-related performance taking into account local and international recommended practices including standards set by accreditation authorities; NCHE and Nurses and Midwives Council of Malawi as well as other international bodies such as East, Central and Southern College of Nursing (ECSACON), International Confederation of Midwives (ICM), International Council of Nurses (ICN) and World Health Organisation (WHO).

The QAD works closely with all Academic Faculties, departments and all sections providing support, guidance and conducting continuous assessment to help them achieve quality standards and requirements. It also carries out all the work related to the institution accreditation and periodic reviews in coordination with the regulatory bodies
