The Maternal and Child Health (MCH) department is one of the largest departments at KCN and has existed for over 35 years initially not as a department but as a midwifery program headed by a coordinator of midwifery. After 4 years a department of maternal and child health was established and was offering maternal child health courses to diploma students and midwifery to nurses who had completed their nursing program.

Out of the total number of faculty members, 3 are professors. The department also consists of 2 associate professors, 21 lecturers and 2 clinical preceptors.
The department provides courses that lead up to a degree in Nursing & Midwifery for normal entry students and a degree in Midwifery for the mature entry students.
The department provides courses that lead up to a Masters degree in Midwifery or a Masters degree in Reproductive Health.
