KCN Capacity for Research KCN’s capacity to conduct research has grown tremendously. Individual faculty members are actively involved in various personal consultancies with NGOs including UNFPA, UNICEF, Project Hope, WHO, Save the Children (US), Save the Children (UK), JICA, UNDP, World Bank, Peace Corps and DFID. Other members are also involved in personal consultancies with government organizations especially Ministry of Health and Ministry of Education on issues of national importance. These individual consultancies usually benefit individuals. With a research centre, some of these consultancies will be channeled through the research centre to benefit both the faculty members and the institution. As an institution, KCN is developing a track record in research through
the existing link programmes. Through the collaboration between KCN and
University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) a student/faculty research model
was tried. In this model, students and faculty collaborated on a large
study on HIV/AIDS prevention. Students’ research projects for one group
of students entirely came from this project and some faculty intend to
publish from this major project. | |
